From works to faith

Galatians 2:16
Man is not justified by his works of law, but by his faith in Jesus Christ. So, we, too have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ, and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.

How do we get right with God?
Getting right with God is by faith in Jesus alone and not by works. We can do all the good works our hearts lead us to but nothing we do will ever earn us entrance into heaven.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved by faith…

John 6:47
He who believes in Me has everlasting life…

A right relationship with God motivates us to live holy righteous lives by faith. Until you have this assurance of a right relationship with Christ and your own salvation, everything you do for God will be done with the wrong motive. If you don’t have the assurance of salvation, then all your efforts are to gain eternal life. This is sin because your motive is gain and greed instead of thanksgiving and gratitude.

1John 5:13
These things have I written to you who believe, that you may know you have eternal life, and that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

Galatians 3:22-23
The scriptures declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith is Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. Before this faith came we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ so that we may be justified by faith.

Ephesians 2:4
But because of His great love for us, God who is rich in His mercy made us alive in Christ, even while we are dead in transgressions. It is by grace you have been saved.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

When we’ve accepted the gift of eternal life by placing our trust in Him we can sing with confidence: “Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine, o what a foretaste of glory divine.” Amen
